Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
11/4/10
Page 2of 3
Most common crime in Louisville? (Asked by Megan V.)-Domestic violence
situations, vehicle break-ins, trespass, theft from grocery stores.
Brody asked about the curfew-Curfew is enforced for minors under 15 years old.
It is midnight on Sun-Thurs and 1am on Fri. and Sat.
Thank you Officer Haley for coming to speak to us!
VII. Volunteer Project for October-discuss-YMCA Halloween Event
Daisy-this event was really, really fun and adorable.
Brooke H.-really fun working in the haunted House but one girl hit them with a
metal water bottle, and later on in the house got led out.
nd
Kendall-in the 2half of the Haunted house there was a pretty gory murder
scene and she was surprised parents were bringing in their toddlers.
Joi-knows that they really appreciated our help.
VIII. November volunteerProject-Community Food Share
Passed around a sign-up sheet for three different time slots.
Will be at the Louisville King Soopers on South Boulder Road.
IX. Eyes and Ears
Parade of Lights-
Antonia was wondering if they needed volunteers.
Mandy-they don’t need volunteers, but you can organize to walk in the parade.
Kendall-the Marketplace Bakery has closed down and in the past they provided
hot chocolate when it was really cold. Is this something the YAB could
do?—Probably not, as it would be competition to other downtown
businesses.
Took a vote-the majority WAS interested in walking in the parade.
Mandy-will look into getting YAB signed up to walk in the parade. Has reindeer
antlers we could wear and also a big YAB banner to be carried.
Daisy-will look into getting candy to throw (roll gently) during the parade. We
can attach labels with the YAB’s name and Facebook address to the
candy at our next meeting, will be the nightbefore the parade.
Daisy-heard there might be a law outlawing trick-or-treaters older than 12 yrs.
Frost says not in Louisville.
Sustainability Committee Meeting
Brooke H. and Eliza-went to .
Other cities around LSV have sustainability plans, but LSVdoesn’t and
they want to work on one.
Helping people figure out composting.
Car emissions-want o get people out of cars and walking or biking.
Discussed more long-term goals rather than short-term, like closing a few
blocks of Main St. during the summer weekends, like the Pearl St.
Mall. Community gardens.
