Board of Appeals
Page 2
July 19, 1979

Davies: This must be west right?
The setback is where?

The house in question is where?

Ross: So your objection is that this house in line with the view
that you wanted.

Knott: This is from a family room window, which illustrates it
further.

Ross:

There's a four feet difference is that correct?

Knott:

That's correct.

Davies: I would like to ask you Steve, has there been any building
permits allowed for properties 670 or building 55 which is to the
north and to the west?

Ferris:

Your talking about the property 679 W Ash Street?

Davies:

That is correct.

Ferris: There's been no permit issued on it but we've got some
preliminary plans on the building.

Davies: Is there anybody that wants to comment pro or con regarding
this property? Or regarding this variance? Is there anybody on the
Board who has anything to say?

Berry: My name is Howard Berry, I am a city council member although
I am not in that capacity tonight. I do have some information which
I think has not been brought to the attention of this Board, and
Mrs. Knott called me and asked me to see what I could do, and what
I have found out is that originally when the plans for this particular
dwelling well, west of their house, (Berry essentially said that the
City originally approved the plot plan, that it showed a 21 foot set-
back instead of 25 feet, and since it was the City's mistake, he felt
that the Variance Board should deny it, the variance.)

Eric (Archetict of the structure in question) The structure
as designed is better as far as view is concerned because it is a
single story house. The variance should be granted because in this
particular case, the structure now under construction is less obstr-
ucting than it could be.

Knott: Four feet is four feet, and as far as I'm considered, it is
an obstruction to my view. I feel that I should be entitled to this
under the zoning restrictions.

Pat Barnbassel: I am the buyer of the house under consideration.
We've worked for the past year trying to find suitable housing in
Boulder County. We have to work not only with the builder, with the
archeticts, and with the lenders, and also with the Vetrans Admini-
stration. The V.A. has certain requirements that I have to meet in
any house that I get with a V.A. Grant for this purpose. One of the
