<br /> City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 16, 2006 <br /> Page 9 of 12 <br />Staff is requesting an additional $15,000 for this work. The total requested <br />contract amendment has been included in the 2006 Dillon Road budget for the <br />Dillon Road Project bid award. Staff recommends approving Amendment to the <br />Professional Engineering Services Agreement with S.E.H., Inc. for Dillon Road, <br />Segment I, in the amount of $62,750 with authorization for the Mayor and City <br />Clerk to execute the amendment on behalf of the City. <br />Mayor Sisk requested public comment. There were no comments. <br />MOTION: Council member Muckle moved to approve the contract amendment <br />with S.E.H for Engineering Services for Dillon Road, seconded by Council <br />member Sackett. Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by a vote of 7-0. <br />AWARD BID TO ASPHALT SPECIAL TIES, INC. FOR DILLON ROAD <br />RECONSTRUCTION/BOX CULVERT PROJECT <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br />Public Works Director Phare reported on May 9, 2006 bids were received for the <br />Dillon Road Reconstruction/Box Culvert Project. The bids are as follows: <br />Asphalt Specialties $893,516.66 and Lafarge West Inc. $950,174.00. <br />The project includes reconstructing approximately 0.45 miles of Dillon Road <br />between 88th Street and 96th Streets. Work items include grading, drainage <br />improvements, and paving. Secondary work items include irrigation ditch box <br />culvert extension, irrigation pipe installation, fencing and seeding. The project <br />has been structured to maintain traffic except for critical activities. No road <br />closures are expected. The project is scheduled to begin in June and be <br />substantially complete by late August. Funding for the project is available from <br />the Capital Projects Fund. Asphalt Specialties is the low bidder. Soft costs such <br />as materials testing, limited surveying, construction staking, irrigation ditch, and <br />construction engineering is estimated at $115,500. Right -of-way is projected to <br />be $75,000. <br />Staff recommended the Council award the Dillon Road Reconstruction/Box <br />Culvert Project to Asphalt Specialties, Inc. per their low unit price bid of $961,554 <br />with authorization for the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the contract <br />documents on behalf of the City, and further authorize staff to execute change <br />orders up to $42,946.00 for additional work and project contingency. <br />Mayor Sisk requested public comment.
