<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 20, 2007 <br />Page 8 of 11 <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF A HEAlTHWAYS, INC. SilVER SNEAKERS AGREEMENT <br />WITH THE CITY OF lOUISVlllE RECREATION/SENIOR CENTER <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Recreation and Senior Services Director Williams reported on the success of <br />Louisville Recreation Center, which opened in 1990. He noted between 2005 <br />and 2006 the Center experienced a 10% growth. He introduced Claudine Low, <br />Senior Services Supervisor, who has investigated various programs for senior <br />citizens. <br /> <br />Williams explained throughout the country, Heathways, Inc. out of Arizona, has <br />offered a fitness/wellness program to local communities. The purpose of this <br />program is to promote individuals 65 years of age and older to actively participate <br />in the Recreation/Senior Cen1ter on an on-going basis. Through this program, <br />Healthways, Inc. will reimbur8e the City of Louisville Recreation/Senior Center <br />$30 per month per participant. In reviewing similar programs elsewhere, it is <br />believed the Recreation/Senior Center should receive an additional $6,000 <br />minimum per month in membership fees once the program gets underway. The <br />only cost to the City will be staff time to administer the program. The Healthways, <br />Inc. Silver Sneakers agreement will bring quality wellness programs for seniors. <br /> <br />Williams noted the agreement has been reviewed and approved by the City <br />Attorney. Staff recommended approving the contract with Healthways, Inc. to <br />join in partnership with the City of Louisville Recreation/Senior Center on <br />conducting the Silver Sneakers program for ages 65 and older with authorization <br />for the Mayor to sign the contract. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Yarnell moved to approve the contract with <br />Healthways, Inc., with authoriization for the Mayor to sign the contract. Council <br />member Clabots seconded the motion. All in favor. Absent: Mayor Pro Tem <br />Brown. <br /> <br />JANUARY/FEBRUARY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEFING - BECKY <br />HOGAN, EDGE CONSULTING <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Becky Hogan, EDge Consulting 56 Steele Street, Denver, CO gave an update on <br />the Economic Development activities for January and February. GlobalHealth <br />Care formally announced they will relocate to Louisville. The move will take <br />place sometime this summer. BRaD has been busy preparing for the business <br />retention training. An office/mixed use roundtable discussion is scheduled for <br />April 5. She reported on the success of the business meeting held at the <br />Downtown Business Association and the "Shop Louisville" campaign. She also <br />
