Business Retention & Development Committee
Meeting Minutes
February 6, 2012
The following items were mentioned:
• Question No.19 no longer applies.
• Questions should be added regarding the golf course including: How much is it used by
citizens for golf, and/or other uses? How much do we pay to maintain the course?
• How important is a connection from downtown to the regional 4-plex ball field?
• Where do trail users desire to go that is currently not available?
• How do we make the city more "bike"able?
The hoped for response rate amount of the survey will be 1,000 surveys; therefore 2,000
surveys will be distributed. After the survey has been finalized the committee members will
take the survey as well to see if they similarly represent the general Louisville population.
UPDATE ON CONCEPT OF BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTER — John Benedetti spoke of the
implementation of the new Small Business Development Counseling Service through the
Chamber of Commerce. The service is still in the Board approval process. He also requested
time to tell about the different programs and updates at the Chamber which included:
• Leadership Louisville
• Ambassadors
• Texas Hold'em Event in April
• Taste of Louisville
• Spaghetti Open
• Business Showcase; partnering with Lafayette
• After Hours
• Lunch and Learn series
• Membership up to 400
REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS —
Chris Pritchard reminded everyone of the February 11, 2012 Savor the Favor event as well as
the Heat Relief Benefit Dinner & Silent Auction event scheduled for Thursday, February 17,
2012. David Sinkey asked what amount these events usually generate. Chris Pritchard stated
that last year the events brought in a total of $12 to $13 thousand and this year the projection is
$15 to $17 thousand.
DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING TO BE HELD ON MONDAY, MARCH 5, 2012—
Troy Russ will facilitate a conversation on the Comprehensive Plan and Core Values Plan
development.
ADJOURN — The meeting was adjourned at 9:21 AM.
