Creation of a Separate Foundation
1. Upcoming Tasks. Dan, Jennifer, Lynn, and Andy stated their willingness to meet
to take on tasks regarding setting up a foundation.
2. Transition to New Foundation Board. Bridget reported that she, Dan, and Beth
had spoken about how it makes sense for the historic home tour event to be
discussed by a new foundation board that would be able to decide for itself whether
and when to put on this event. The board of a new foundation would be able to
have its own volunteers for such an event, which the Commission is not able to do
under the current organizational structure. Bridget also noted that the home tour
event will need a strong support system in place to be able to bring it back as an
annual event and it’s not known at this time whether a new foundation board would
want to continue with the event. Bridget stated that a volunteer has expressed
interest in coordinating a historic home tour in the future and that she recommends
that this be pursued after a new foundation is in place.
C. Membership and Fundraising
1. Membership statistics and fundraising report. Nearly 30 new members have
joined this year. Discussion ensued about how to increase new memberships in
2012.
