Historical Commission
Minutes
June 20, 2012
2. Updates on contacting members for renewals. Commission members assigned
with contacting non-renewing members gave their updates. There are still a few
more to be completed before the next meeting.
3. Business Sponsors
1. Update on plan to put logos on website. Dan stated that he would like to
complete the gathering of Business Sponsor logos so that the new
Museum web page update can be complete. Jennifer, Lynn, Anne, and
Andy will send over the logos that have been collected.
4. Merchandise to be ordered. Bridget asked for help from a Commission member
to order more merchandise that it sells at the Museum. Sally stated that she can
order additional copies of the book “The Walls Talk” for the Museum store.
D. Expenses, discussion and approval
1. Grain Elevator Paper Craft. Bridget shared a paper craft model of the Louisville
Grain Elevator created by Richard Wheeler, which inspired a spirited discussion. It
was seen as an interesting, charming, low cost, and Louisville appropriate craft
item with multiple uses from the First Friday Art Walk to school groups to
fundraisers. The Commission approved a budget of $400 for reproduction of
materials so that kits can be created. The Commission also decided to use the kits
in conjunction with a membership drive for new members, so a membership form
will be included in each kit. Bridget will meet again with Richard Wheeler to further
refine the design and instructions and will report back next month.
2. Flower Bed Donation in Memory of Don Ross. Funds for a flower bed at the
Museum have been donated in the memory of Don Ross. Bridget will obtain more
information about the donor’s intentions and report at the July meeting.
E. Chairperson’s Report. Dan applied for a grant from his employer Avnet and was awarded
$600 from the “Dollars for Doers” program which will be donated to the Historical
Commission. The Commission expressed gratitude to Dan.
F. Commission Comments and Discussion Items for Next Meeting. Nothing additional.
G. Close Fundraising Board Meeting and Adjourn. The meeting adjourned at 9:10.
