Louisville City Council Meeting <br />May 7, 2002 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Senior Board President Art Symanski thanked Council on behalf of the Senior Board and <br />all senior citizens of Louisville. He reminded the Mayor and Council of the Older <br />American Luncheon on Thursday, March 8, 2002, at the Louisville Senior Center. <br /> <br />Sisk voiced his pleasure as servicing as Council's liaison on the Senior Advisory Board. <br />He thanked the Senior Board for their active and positive roles in the community. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH <br /> <br />Mayor Davidson proclaimed April 2002, as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention <br />Month in the City of Louisville and presented the Proclamation to Kitty Sargent, <br />Educational Resource Specialist for Blue Sky Bridge Child & Advocacy Program. <br /> <br />Kitty Sargeant, representing Blue Sky Bridge, accepted the proclamation and thanked <br />Council for their support and recognition of the problem of child abuse. She invited the <br />Mayor and Council to visit the Blue Bridge Child Facility in Boulder. <br /> <br />2001 AUDIT & MANAGEMENT LETTER <br /> <br />Davidson called for Staff introduction. <br /> <br />Finance Director Dianne Ray introduced Wendy Swanhorst, C.P.A., partner with <br />Swanhorst, Dragon & Cutler LLC, who presented the 2001 Audit and Management <br />Letter. <br /> <br />Wendy Swan_horst presented the 2001 Audit and Management Letter for the City of <br />Louisville. She noted that the report looks different from what the Council is accustomed <br />to. She explained that this is due to the City of Louisville's adoption of the GASB34 <br />standard for governments. She stated that GASB34 is a significant change in government <br />accounting and brings government accounting along the lines of business accounting. <br />She referred to financial statements in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, <br />which separates govemment activities primarily supported by tax dollars from business <br />type activities supported by fees. She summarized that the City is in good financial <br />condition. <br /> <br />Sisk reported that the Finance Committee met with Ms. Swanhorst on Monday. He <br />welcomed Ms. Swanhorst and the firm of Swanhorst, Dragon & Cutler LLC to the City <br />of Louisville and thanked her for a positive and understandable audit. <br /> <br />Mayer recognized Finance Director Dianne Ray for her contributions to the Finance <br />Department and the City of Louisville. He expressed his best wishes to Ray in her new <br />employment and stated that she will be missed. <br /> <br />Davidson concurred with Council member Mayer's comments and also extended his best <br />wishes to Dianne Ray. <br /> <br /> <br />
