Community Theater (CCCT. )
Response: The LAHC treasurer only received a few
recorded messages. No phone number was left on the first
message for the LAHC treasurer to return the call.
Carolyn Markham has a checkbook and the power to sign
checks but she was not contacted about the problem.
3 . Concern: Nancy Westergaard has remained a board member
1 of the LAHC even though she moved to Brighton in July.
Response: In July the Council had been negotiating with
the IRS for a period of almost two years to obtain non-
profit status. Nancy Westergaard was handling the
' correspondence with the IRS at the time of her move to
Brighton. The LAHC decided to keep Nancy Westergaard on
the Council in order to finish the process successfully.
' It is vital to our group, to the building improvement
committee, and to the art community that we be able to
receive funding from sources other than the SCFD. In any
case, Nancy Westergaard's term of office will expire in
December, 1991. Since the main focus of the LAHC is
completing projects, not controversial decisions, the
LAHC did not foresee complaints or problems with this
' decision.
Storage request: BAA requested assistance in storing equipment.
The Council voted to allow the BAA to store equipment in the pool
area, subject to waivers from the group for loss or damage. The
City has already approved this use.
Young People's Concert: The Council agreed to send a contract for
the Young Peoples Concert to be signed and returned before the SCFD
funds are disbursed.
Distribution policy of SCFD funds has changed. Sponsoring
organizations must either administer the funds and handle all
1 accounting or give the sponsored group only 80% of the funds, with
the remaining 20% disbursed after the sponsored group sends in the
reporting form. The Council voted to use the 80/20 method unless
large purchases requiring all of the funding are involved. In that
' case the Council would handle the accounting and pay the bill.
Rules of Order.: Carolyn distributed a Roberts Rules of Order Guide
to each member of the Council.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Ibuilding Committee: The Council approved the appointment of DeAnn
Dickinson to the Building Committee as the member-at-large. Other
II members of the committee are chairman John Hansen, Theresa Beers,
Virginia Caranci, Katy Luepschen, Rick Hays, Peter Stewart, John
Eifler, and Kirk Schweitzer. The first meeting will be in January.
Grants: The CCAH Project Grant application is due on January 15.
Reporting forms for SCFD project grants are due six weeks after the
1
