Louisville City Council Meeting <br />January 21, 2003 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Davidson reported the Mayors Along the Turnpike Committee are going to Washington, <br />D.C., next week, to meet with various congressional staff members. He asked Assistant <br />City Manager for Governmental Relations Heather Balser to give a brief overview of the <br />schedule. <br /> <br />Balser stated they will leave Tuesday, January 28th, with letters of support from RTD, <br />CDOT and the TMO and outlined the itinerary as follows: <br /> Wednesday - January 29: Meet with the Colorado delegation: Allard, Beauprez, <br /> Udall, and Campbell. <br /> · Thursday - January 30: Meet with Jenna Dom from the Federal Transportation <br /> Administration and RTD General Manager Cal Marsella. <br /> · Friday - January 31: Interview federal lobbyists, who will lobby on behalf of the <br /> US36 Mayors Committee Coalition. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - HONORING MONARCH HIGH SCHOOL STATE <br /> CHAMPION FOOTBALL TEAM <br /> <br />Mayor Davidson read the proclamation honoring the Monarch High School State <br />Champion Football Team. The Monarch High School Football Team won the State 4A <br />Championship this year with an undefeated season. Council recognized the outstanding <br />athletes of the class 2002 Monarch High School State Champion Football Team. The <br />following Captains of Monarch High School Football Team accepted the proclamation: <br />Willie Novitsky, John Ray, Anthony Ferrera, Kevin Warembourg, and Jose Rosales. <br />Novitsky thanked the Mayor and Council for recognizing the Monarch High School <br />Football Team. <br /> <br />Davidson announced that each member of the team would receive a certificate for a ten- <br />punch pass at the Louisville Recreation Center. <br /> <br />Sisk stated the Monarch High School Football Championship is a significant achievement <br />and he congratulated the coaches, players, teachers and the parents. He stressed there <br />was a tremendous amount of community support for the school. <br /> <br />CONTRACTING FOR TRASH <br /> <br />Davidson reported that Waste Connections, doing business as Town & Country Disposal <br />in Louisville, sent post cards to every household asking residents to choose their <br />company as the City's trash hauler. He stated the City is evaluating contracting for one <br />trash collector as a method to reduce street maintenance cost.
