facilities. The citizens of Louisville
realize that this will be a major financial
undertaking. We are asking the City Council
to explore all the options that are available
that would make this acquisition a reality
for the Louisville community.
Tom Mayor, 580 Wildrose, is in support of
this park. The west side of Louisville is in
need of a large park facility and felt this
area would serve this interest well. Another
concern that I have is the number of residen-
tial units that are being proposed for this
area. I think we should slow down in terms
of residential build out. I would hope the
council would look towards spending their
money wisely and focus the city's resources
on this park.
Greg McArthur, 622 W. Pine, is interested in
seeing some of the area preserved as a natu-
ral habitat for the animals and birds.
James Manza, 1135 Franklin Ave, has seen this
town grow rapidly. There are fewer and fewer
places for us to enjoy the open spaces. Once
the land is built on and there are houses our
choices are gone. Please take your time and
make a wise decision on this area. We do
need more parks so that our families can
enjoy themselves.
Jill Perry, 574 W. Ash - does not oppose this
park, but would like to see the money put
into a plan and decide what is important to
the whole city not just a certain area. I
would rather see the money put into develop-
ing the area around the recreation center
rather than this area.
Howard stated that since there is such a
great interest by the citizens of Louisville,
I feel there should be a work session with
staff, council, the people and Mc5tain. I
would like staff to give a presentation on
the funding available. This way we can all
find out what is available, how we can get
money, what it is going to cost the citizens.
Hornbostel stated that she liked the idea
that the other parts of town are represented.
Maybe we should look into parks policies at
this time. I would like to see this maybe
happen at the work session.
4
