CONSENT CALENDAR CONT: Approval of Change Order #1 - Cherry Valley
Woods - Furniture, etc. for Library
Approval of Chamber Lease
PUBLIC COMMENTS None.
REGULAR BUSINESS:
INTRODUCTION OF INTERIM MUNICIPAL JUDGE -
JOHN STAVELY Mayor Fauson introduced John Stavely who was appointed
to serve as interim Municipal Judge from December 31,
1989 until January 8, 1990. Judge Lee Hawke resigned
his position effective December 31, 1989.
AWARD OF BID - LIBRARY
FURNITURE At Council's last meeting, the Library Board asked
that Council reject all bids for Library Furniture
(Proposal B) and issue a new request for proposals for
same. On December 13, bids were received and the
Board is recommending the bid be awarded to Ford
Office Supply in the amount of $4,928.00.
Anderson moved and Ferrera seconded to award the
Library Furniture Bid to Ford Office Supply in the
amount of $4,928.00. Motion passed 7-0.
AWARD OF BID - LIBRARY
CONSTRUCTION Construction Services advertised for bids from
contractors on the renovation of the 950 Spruce Street
building into the the new Louisville Public Library.
Bids were received on December 18, 1989.
Marschner explained that during the design phases of
the project, several problems arose. Chief among
these problems were 1) the upstairs of the facility
was not originally designed to accommodate 125 psf
Library loading; 2) with two lower tenants remaining,
the lower level would not have an interior elevator
access to the upper level; and 3) the $l0 sf budget
would not allow any significant exterior modifications
to the structure.
Solutions to these problems were presented to Council
with the approval of the Board at the completion of
the Schematic Designs. Construction Services then
presented budgets of interior renovations $100,000,
structural upgrades $12,000, exterior modifications
$33,000 and elevator equipment $30,000. Additionally,
during the procurement of library furniture, it was
deemed appropriate to procure the circulation desk via
the construction contract. The desk was originally
budgeted at $7,000. The total of the estimate
including the circulation desk for construction
presented at completion of schematic design was
2
