Paul Wood, Planning Director, introduced Peter Kernkamp, Planner <br />II. <br /> <br />Nelda Mohr, Library Director, introduced Kathy Zrebiec, Library <br />Assistant. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - OLDER CITIZENS MONTH AND CELEBRATING THE 50TH <br />ANNIVERSARY OF SENIOR CENTERS IN OUR COUNTRY - MAY 1993 <br /> <br />Davidson read and presented the Older Citizens Month Proclamation <br />to Bill Knowles. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - HISTORICAL MONTH - MAY 1993 <br /> <br />Davidson read and presented the Historical Month Proclamation to <br />Eileen Schmidt. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - ACQUISITION OF ~TWmNBAUGH PROPERTY <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1104, SERIES 1993, AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION <br />OF CERTAIN PROPERTY REQUIRED FOR OPEN SPACE, PARK OR <br />RECREATIONAL PURPOSES FOR THEBENEFIT, HEALTH, SAFETYAND <br />WELFARE OFTHE CITIZENS OF LOUISVITWmAND DESIGNATING AN <br />AGENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY TO ENGAGE IN GOOD FAITH <br />NEGOTIATIONS TO ACQUIRE SAID PROPERTY, AND UPON FAILURE <br />TO SECURE ANEGOTIATED ACQUISITION, AUTHORIZING THECITY <br />ATTORNEY OR THE CITY ATTORNEY'S DESIGNEE TO PROCEED TO <br />ACQUIRE SAIDPROPERTYTHROUGH CONDEMNATION - 1STREADING <br />- SET PUBLIC~r~.ARING - 5/18/93 <br /> <br />Griffiths read by title only Ordinance No. 1104, Series 1993, "An <br />ordinance of the City Council of the City of Louisville authorizing <br />acquisition of certain property required for open space, park or <br />recreational purposes for the benefit, health, safety and welfare <br />of the citizens of Louisville and designating an agent on behalf of <br />the City to engage in good faith negotiations to acquire said <br />property, and upon failure to secure a negotiated acquisition, <br />authorizing the City Attorney or the City Attorney's designee to <br />proceed to acquire said property through condemnation." <br /> <br />Susan Griffiths, City Attorney, stated that at the last Council <br />meeting, the Council had voted to proceed with the acquisition of <br />the Allenbaugh property through a purchase, if possible, and, if <br />not, then through condemnation. Since her law firm did not have <br />condemnation expertise, she met with Attorney Tim Goddard, who is <br />in the law firm of Opperman & Associates in Denver, which <br />specializes in condemnation work, to obtain assistance in <br />initiating the acquisition process. Mr. Goddard assisted Griffiths <br />in preparing this ordinance, which is necessary to initiate the <br />process. Also, she stated that before Council is a proposed <br />employment agreement retaining Opperman & Associates for assistance <br /> <br /> <br />
