DISCUSSION/DIRECTION REQUEST FROM LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS FOR USE OF
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS FEE EXEMPT

Liz Black, 149 South Carter Court, Louisville, Colorado,
representing the League of Women Voters of Boulder Valley, stated
that the League plans to hold two forums next month, as part of
their voter service efforts to inform citizens and encourage their
participation in government. She asked that the usual fee not be
charged at these events, as they are a volunteer non-partisan
organization and this is a public service. They have invited all
of the candidates, who are running, and are using a timed format.
She explained that the second forum is on the topic of impact fees.
The League does not have a position on impact fees. They want to
know more about the concept and better inform themselves for the
times when issues concerning impact fees come up. They feel
everyone can benefit, when citizens have a good understanding of
the issues and candidates.

Davidson:

Would you be expecting the city to
provide the person to operate the
cameras or would plan on providing a
person to do that.

Black stated that Chris Miller, Assistant to the City
Administrator, felt that he might know of someone who might donate
their time to run the camera.

Davidson:

Black:

Does the League of Women Voters
intend to take any position on the
passage or defeat of any November
election issue before the city
voters, or the election , or defeat
of any candidate for city office?

Certainly, not any candidates. We
have taken a position on County
matters, but I do not expect we will
take a position on the city issues
here in Louisville. We penciled in
two dates: October 11, Monday,
Candidates Forum; October 14,
Thursday, Impact Fee Discussion.

Lathrop:

When you talk about the impact fees,
are you talking about the school
impact fees?

Black stated that their study of the impact fees is much more
general. She explained that they are not planning to discuss the
open space sales tax for the city of Louisville issue that is on
the Louisville ballot.
