In 1981, the City created the Department of
Community Services and directed the Head Librarian
to report to the Director of Community Services.
During the past seven years, the library has
experienced a tremendous increase in usage and now
plays a greater role in provided basic City
services to the re:~idents of Louisville. As a
result, Stahl recommended the Library be an
independent department reporting to the City
Administrator. The recognition of the Library as
a department will enable them to compete on an
equitable basis with the other departments for
capital, operational and discretionary funds.
The second change involves a name change only for
the Finance Department. Sharon currently
supervises a variety of functions that include
personnel, payroll, accounting, budgeting, utility
billing, etc. A department title of Director of
Financial and General Services would be consistent
with those functions.
Mohr moved and F~errera seconded to adopt
Resolution #30, Series 1988. Unanimous.
SELECTION OF NAME FOR
GOLF COURSE Stahl explained that during the past several
months, the public golf course included in the
Coal Creek Ranch Project has been identified by a
variety of names. In order to develop a golf
course marketing package, logo and establish
consistency in the paperwork that will be
generated during the next 22 months prior to
opening, it is necessary to officially name the
course. Suggested names include: Coal Creek Golf
Course, Coal Creek Golf Club, Coal Creek Ranch
Golf Course and Coal Creek Ranch Golf Club.
Chuck Bellock, developer of the surrounding
residential property strongly recommended that the
course be named Coal Creek Golf Club while the
City's Golf Course Advisory Board recommends Coal
Creek Golf Courseā€ž The primary differences
between "course" and "club" deal with developing a
marketing plan, which in Chuck's case, "club"
would be used for exclusive residential homes.
The fact that the golf course is public and not a
private club has been the position of the Advisory
Board.
The Louisville Golf Association, consisting of
approximately 100 local golfers, has recommended
that the course be named Coal Creek Golf Course.
7
