member task force to look at the effect of this
proposal and how it: would be implemented. Leeds:
"This Resolution has been carefully worded to take
care of the doubts that any of you might have as
to persuading the voters one way or the other.
Its an issue that c:an not be ignored and is an
issue that I think is appropriate for this Council
to take up. I undE~rstand your reasons for
deferring judgemeni~ on it at your last meeting. I
think you cannot afford to not stand up and be
counted on this issue as it has such an impact on
this community and all the eastern portion of the
County."
Sackett asked if tYiere was evidence to exactly how
this would help Louisville.
Leeds: "Representative Ruth Wright, stated at a
meeting last night that Louisville, Broomfield and
Lafayette were three communities that were
hesitant to embraces the Comprehensive Plan in its
entirety. Broomfield is seeking to annex large
parcels of land. Louisville is also in a growth
mode. I think that. the vote for each of you
(Council) says that Louisville is looking in a new
direction rather than the way that the Council was
previously constituted. Because the City of Boulder is able to
through sheer numbers sway an "at large" vote and
sway an election in. their direction - that pretty
much leaves out they eastern area of the County.
We could put up a candidate that would fairly
represent the Louisville, Lafayette, Broomfield
point of view on some of these issues of
importance and impact to this area."
Laurence Enrietto, 1000 LaFarge, also asked
Council to please endorse this Resolution.
Mohr read a statement from the Louisville Chamber
of Commerce endorsing the Resolution.
Mayor Fauson read a statement submitted by
Carnival. (Carnival not yet present) "After
obtaining additional information from studying the
issue being addressed in the upcoming Special
Election, I as an individual support the expansion
of the Board of County Commissioners to five
elected by districts instead of three elected at
large. I also encourage all resident voters to
4
