function. Phare explained that the City may take
over the maintenance of the hydrants with some
financial assistance from the District.
Mohr stated that should the City take over the
maintenance of these hydrants, he would like
the financial help of the Fire District as they
pull over 5 1/2 mills and the City pulls 7 1/3
mills and this would be appropriate. Mohr further
stated that according to Section 2, "The Chief of
Fire Prevention of the Louisville Fire Protection
District shall have the authority to require an
increase in the minimum access widths where such
widths are not adequate for fire or rescue
operations."' In the next paragraph, the statement
reads, "The placement and installation of fire
hydrants shall be as approved by the Fire Marshall
of the Louisville Fire Protection District." Mohr
feels that there does need to be better
clarification within the Ordinance if indeed the
City has the last word on this. Mohr applauds the
cooperative efforts in the past but feels this
should be clarified.
Mayor Fauson closed the public hearing and asked
for a motion.
Sackett moved that Ordinance #894 be tabled until
staff can review it and recommend an outline to
establish proper authority. Mohr seconded.
Unanimous.
ORDINANCE #895 - UNIFORM BUILDING, PLUMBING AND MECHANICAL CODE -
PUBLIC HEARING Rautenstraus read by title only Ordinance #895,
"An Ordinance amending Chapter 15 of the
Louisville Municipal Code by adopting 1985
editions of the uniform Building Code, the Uniform
Mechanical Code, the Uniform Plumbing Code, and
amending Ordinances relative to payment of certain
Building permit and license fees within the City
of Louisville." Publication and notice of public
hearing were established.
Mayor Fauson opened the public hearing.
Wanush explained that the City of Louisville
currently operates under the 1982 version of the
Uniform Building Code, the Uniform Mechanical Code
and the Uniform Plumbing Codes. The 1985 version
is now available and being recommended for adoption
with local modification. Other than technical
clarifications and changes made in the body of the
codes themselves, all local modifications
recommended for adoption except fees, are
unchanged from 1982. The fees have been changed
4
