Lathrop: <br />Johnson: <br />Lathrop: <br /> <br />Franklin: <br /> <br />How long have you owned the home? <br /> <br />Since September of 1991. <br /> <br />John, could Mr. Johnson build a <br />fence inside of his lot line at 6 <br />ft., and if so, at what distance? <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson could build a 6 ft. <br />privacy fence with a height of up to <br />the maximum height as long as he <br />observed the setback requirements, <br />which I recall to be 25 ft. <br /> <br />Lathrop: <br /> <br />Johnson: <br /> <br />I am concerned about a policy change <br />on an individual basis, especially <br />fencing on open space. <br /> <br />I bought this home because of the <br />size of the yard for our dogs. I <br />don't feel like cutting up the yard <br />when I could put up a fence along <br />the property line. When you look <br />across Via Appia and around the <br />lake, there are several houses with <br />6 ft. privacy fences. On my side of <br />Via Appia, there are other lots <br />bordering the same open space which <br />have 6 ft. fences also. <br /> <br />Lathrop: <br /> <br />I think, to some degree, you may be <br />being singled out or being penalized <br />for being forthright. In my <br />opinion, if I say it's okay for Mr. <br />Johnson, then I'd have to say it's <br />okay for everyone else. <br /> <br />Hornbostel: <br /> <br />We need to look at the whole policy. <br /> <br />Lathrop moved that Council deny the request for a 6 ft. privacy <br />fence on open space. <br /> <br />Hornbostel made a friendly amendment to examine the policy on <br />design guidelines in terms of privacy fences on open space. <br /> <br />Lathrop refused the friendly amendment. Seconded by Mayer. <br /> <br />Mayer made a amendment to revisit the guidelines and make sure that <br />Council has a consistent policy that's being followed consistently, <br />and that still meets the initial objectives of that policy. <br />Seconded by Hornbostel.
