Louisville City Council Meeting <br />March 16, 2004 <br />Page 8 of 10 <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br /> <br />No report. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons updated Council on the Highway 42 Revitalization Area <br />Project and the upcoming calendar. He addressed the role of the newly appointed Urban <br />Renewal Authority. He asked Assistant City Manager for Governmental Relations <br />Heather Balser to report on pending legislation, including Urban Renewal legislation. <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager for Governmental Relations Heather Balser reported on House <br />Bill 1209 (definition of blight under urban renewal authority); House Bill 1203 <br />(restriction of eminent domain and condemnation powers); and the Regional <br />Transportation Authority Bill, which will be introduced on March 17, 2004. <br /> <br />City Attomey Sam Light clarified HB 1203, which prohibits private property from being <br />transferred to a private party in connection with eminent domain and urban renewal <br />authorities. <br /> <br />City Manager Simmons emphasized it is not the City's goal to proceed with eminent <br />domain and condemnation on the Highway 42 project, and noted the City has pledged the <br />revitalization will be a cooperative effort. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORTS <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Julie Boyd updated Council on the progress of the new <br />Police/Municipal Court Facility project. The new completion date is June 21st`. <br /> <br />City Manager Simmons stressed the Police/Court facility will not be occupied until all <br />the furniture and fixtures are installed and the police and court departments are able to <br />conduct business at the new facility. <br /> <br />Tom Phare reported on the Highway 42/96th Street Connection Project, the City's Water <br />supply, and the Re-use Water Pipeline Project. <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons reported on following: · The Via Appia/South Boulder Road Study <br /> · Community Park Meetings <br /> · Aquatic Renovation at the Recreation Center <br /> · Review Process for a Project Manager for the New Library <br /> · Amendment to the Superior IGA <br /> · Savage and Pickett Zoning <br /> · Capital Projects <br /> · Agenda Item for April 13 Study Session - Louisville Public Library <br /> <br /> <br />
