City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 6, 2008 <br />Page 12 of 17 <br />Mayor Sisk opened the public; hearing and requested a Staff presentation. <br />Public Works Director Phare explained Dillon Road Project will provide drainage <br />and roadway improvements adjacent to Dillon Road from 96th Street to east of <br />South 104th Street. The Council authorized the Public Works Department to <br />negotiate with property owneirs along Dillon Road for acquisition of right-of-way <br />for the project. An agreement was reached with Mr. Joel Self for the acquisition <br />of 7,000 square feet of his property along with granting a 10' wide construction <br />easement along the southern boundary of his property for the project. The City <br />will reimburse Mr. Self $21,000 for his property with an additional $6,000 for <br />miscellaneous expenses associated with the transaction. <br />Mayor Sisk closed the public hearing. <br />MOTION: Mayor Pro Tem Marsella moved to approve Resolution No.18, Series <br />2008, seconded by Councilor Clabots. Roll call vote was taken. The motion <br />carried by a vote of 7-0. <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION -LOUISVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL RENOVATIONS / <br />DEMOLITION <br />Mayor Sisk explained the Boulder Valley School District Board of Education is <br />hosting a joint meeting with the Louisville City Council regarding the planned <br />renovation/demolition of Louisville Middle School on May 7th, from 3:30 to 6:30 <br />p.m. A position paper and ini~ormation was prepared and submitted at the <br />request of Councilor Muckle. <br />Councilor Muckle noted the value of the meeting for the Council and Louisville <br />residents. He explained there are two issues with respect to the joint meeting. <br />1) The public be allowed to speak longer. 2) Suggest incorporating the facade <br />into their design and the opportunity to have the Historic Preservation <br />Commission and the Louisville Museum examine the historic artifacts. <br />Mayor Sisk requested public comment. <br />Mike Koertje, 887 Welch Court, Louisville, CO thanked Council for their support <br />and noted at the joint meeting Council will have very little participation, and the <br />public comment at the end of the meeting will allow each speaker only two <br />minutes to address the issue.. He encouraged Council to support the position <br />paper and to request the agenda be changed to delete the School District's <br />presentation and allow more public participation. <br />Susan Morris, 939 W. Maple Court, Louisville, CO voiced her appreciation to the <br />Council for their support. ShE, was disappointed with the agenda, which will not <br />permit a public discussion. She hoped the agenda could be modified. <br />
