City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 6, 2008 <br />Page 13 of 17 <br />John Leary, 1116 LaFarge Avenue, Louisville, CO stated the Louisville Middle <br />School's historic facade would be demolished. He stressed the importance of <br />the City being allowed to salvage the Louisville Middle School's historic artifacts. <br />He hoped the agenda would be changed to permit public discussion. <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br />Councilor Sackett felt the Council should be united to support the citizens, but <br />voiced his regrets he had another commitment and can not attend the meeting. <br />Councilor Yarnell voiced her disappointment with agenda and expressed her <br />desire to amend the agenda and present the elements of the position paper. <br />City Manager Fleming addressed the Council and public comments and stated <br />he was interested in what the Board of Education proposes for the Louisville <br />Middle School and then hearing a public discussion and thought the agenda <br />served that purpose. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella stated her understanding was the meeting would <br />include a presentation. She voiced her frustration over the lack of public <br />participation. <br />Councilor Dalton suggested calling the School District Supervisor and requesting <br />the elements of the presentation be made brief to permit more public discussion. <br />He voiced his frustration that the Design Advisory Team was not given specific <br />direction to incorporate portions of the historic building in the new design. <br />Mayor Sisk noted the meeting is a Boulder Valley School District meeting. He <br />stated the threshold question will be whether there is any way to preserve the <br />history of the middle school without delaying the project. He stressed the <br />importance of merging the desires of the community with the plans to reconstruct <br />the Louisville Middle School. <br />Councilor Muckle felt an obligation to the residents to pursue a dialogue with the <br />Board of Education to preserve the history of the Louisville Middle School. <br />John Leary, 1116 LaFarge Avenue, Louisville, CO, explained the dialogue should <br />be between the Council and 1:he School District, followed by the public comment. <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECT'ION/ACTION -HIGHWAY 42 ACTION PLAN <br />City Manager Fleming explained the Highway 42 Action plan is intended as an <br />outline of the steps the City and/or others must take to facilitate timely <br />redevelopment within the Highway 42 plan area in a manner consistent with the <br />
