3/6/84 Page -3-
restaurants than classrooms, as a waitress,
as a cook, in restaurants similiar to theirs
with liquor licenses. Ms. Grace stated that
sh~a came to know Louisville in 1980 and 1982
while she worked as a clerk for Varra Enter-
prises. A year ago last summer when her sis-
ter came to visit, they started to explore
the possibility of starting a business of
their own. Andrea has education in food
service and restaurant management and a
degree in business. She has worked for
J.C. Penny's for 6 years as merchandising
manager. Between them and including her
husband's financial background they do have
the experience to operate a food establish-
ment. They had spent a year seeking a location
in Louisville; knowing that the growth here
has created a need for an alternative rest-
au:ran~ especially one serving breakfast.
Annie Rae's is a family restaurant; features
American food - charbroiled, barbeque lunches,
early suppers, and traditional American break-
fasts. It will seat 63, be open from 6 AM
to 8 PM, seven days a week. The atmosphere
is open, bright, modern, friendly. The
cooking area is in the center of the restau-
rant open to customers view. Meals will be
served between $3 - $5 with another dollar
if you order beer or wine. As many people
like to have a drink with lunch and supper,
and they had been requested repeatedly to
serve, they feel it is essential to the
business and to completely establish area
eateries that they do have a liquor license.
They estimate only between 8 to 12% of their
business will be from liquor. They are seek-
ing a full liquor license in order to be able
to serve occasional drinks if they run a
special, rather than come to Council and seek
a special permit, as was just done for the
American Legion. Beer and wine only will be
stock regularly. They plan to employ between
12 and 15 people, hopefully from the Louis-
ville area. The employees handling alcoholic
beverages will be 21 years or older. All em-
ployees will be trained in rules governing
liquor dispensing. Any violations will be
grounds for dismissal. Beer and wine will
be served in glasses that are different from
non-alcoholic drinks for easy identification
to help avoid any misuse. This is a food
