1/3/84
Page -3-
since you put .in the new deal, the pictures
are wavy and not clear.
Carol Roberts Her husband and her biggest question was
2423 Franklin Ave. how their new converter system will work
with their present TV equipment. The rumors
they heard from the person that delivered their
new converter was that you plan to scramble
all of the signal so that totally incapacitates
the tuner that is built into your video
recorder or your television set. In order
for them to program and record 2 programs
on t:heir video recorder while they are gone
for a week, they have to have somebody come
over- and then would change their converter
channel because the video recorder tuner
wou]Ld no longer work. That is the main
question they would like answered - exactly
are they going to scramble all the signals;
why that is necessary? Also how they are
going to work with people who have invested
a lot of money in equipment?
Mayor Meier stated if councilmembers had
questions similiar to those asked by the
pub:Lic that they .ask them _at this .time,
then Scripps/Howard could respond to all
questions at one time.
Councilman Fauson Asked Mr. Bradley to repeat his question #7.
Bradley stated that question 7 was - did
Scripps/Howard buy the general instrument
equipment - the scrambler and the remote con-
trol - as a set, as a unit package, unit pri-
cing? Was Scripps/Howard sure that they got
the best deal? Why are they distributing
them separate:Ly. He thought that Scripps/
Howard errored in their purchase by not buy-
ing a system with a sound control. You put in
an IS strip and amplifier and then you turn
your television set all the way up and then
you. control the sound through the remote con-
trol.
Councilwoman Morris Regarding the remote control - if in fact
Remote control people had the impression that since they had
a cable ready television with remote control
thz-u perhaps some misinformation from Storer,
how would Scripps/Howard deal with that and
is there being any provision made for that?
To the best of her knowledge it was going to
be a flat $3.00 fee each month - would like
th_Ls addressed.
Availability of New Channels Would like specifics on when the new channels
wi:Ll be available - a few channels have been
