Sustainability Advisory Board
June 16, 2021 Meeting Minutes
engagement effort, he had sent along several sustainability-related comments. He
also reported he had contacted Parks Supt Dean John, regarding lawn -mowing along
Lake Park Open Space. Council Member Deb F responded that mowing controls
weeds without having to use pesticides.
Josh also reported he had spoken with Councilmember Jeff Lipton: re potential
energy -usage taxes, Council member Lipton is concerned about adding to local -
businesses' expenses, and wants to avoid potential `double -taxing' on their energy
usage; he prefers a `carrots vs sticks' approach.
And regarding if LSAB should become a quasi-judicial board, Council member Lipton
said the Planning Dept & Staff should already be representing LSAB's
interests/concerns. And he said our town shouldn't go far beyond existing State
codes.
Council Member Deb Fahey also reported the City Council is willing to adopt stronger
current codes from the IECC; and requested LSAB members' support at the 1 st and
2nd readings of the codes when they're presented.
Todd B reported his company - FIS - is starting its own climate action plan, as part of
its comprehensive sustainability program. A March 2021 press release announcing
its implementation can be seen at https://www.investor.fisglobal.com/news-
releases/news-release-details/fis-announces-climate-action-plan-part-its-sustainability .
7. She stated that building -code updates will add Solar
and EV requirements. She expects those proposed updates to come to LSAB in
August, and move on to City Council in September.
She stated Energy Future Collaboration with Louisville and Boulder County has led to
an effort with the Brendle Group will provide technical experience to develop regional
EV planning.
8.
