He <br />also reported he had contacted Parks Supt Dean John, regarding lawn -mowing along <br />Lake Park Open Space. Council Member Deb F responded that mowing controls <br />weeds without having to use pesticides. <br />Josh also reported he had spoken with Councilmember Jeff Lipton: re potential <br />energy -usage taxes, Council member Lipton is concerned about adding to local - <br />businesses' expenses, and wants to avoid potential `double -taxing' on their energy <br />usage; he prefers a `carrots vs sticks' approach. <br />And regarding if LSAB should become a quasi-judicial board, Council member Lipton <br />said the Planning Dept & Staff should already be representing LSAB's <br />interests/concerns. And he said our town shouldn't go far beyond existing State <br />codes. <br />Council Member Deb Fahey also reported the City Council is willing to adopt stronger <br />current codes from the IECC; and requested LSAB members' support at the 1 st and <br />2nd readings of the codes when they're presented. <br />Todd B reported his company - FIS - is starting its own climate action plan, as part of <br />its comprehensive sustainability program. City Staff Update: Katie B's memo in the meeting packet gave updates on the <br />Green -Business program, Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week, Disposable -Bag Tax <br />implementation, and Municipal Operations. She reported that City staff are doing <br />some pro -active updates to some City buildings' systems, instead of just doing <br />reactive updates when needed. She stated that building -code updates will add Solar <br />and EV requirements. She expects those proposed updates to come to LSAB in <br />August, and move on to City Council in September. <br />She stated Energy Future Collaboration with Louisville and Boulder County has led to <br />an effort with the Brendle Group will provide technical experience to develop regional <br />EV planning. <br />8.
