<br />Senior Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />1/20/09 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br />B. Social and Civic Engagement <br />1. Programs-Carol Purfurst <br />Carol presented in Lindats absence. The group is functioning well, <br />keeping well ahead with program suggestions. Claudine has suggested to Katie <br />Beasley that the group meet once a quarter instead of bimonthly. <br />2. Sunshine-Barbara Wilson. <br />No report as Barbara is no longer on the board. <br />3. Intergenerational-Claire Floyd <br />Janine Fitzgerald, who is on the Fireside Improvement Committee, <br />has asked for a list of volunteers. These currently are: Sheila Newton, Carol <br />Purfurst, Barbara Wilson and Claire. <br /> <br />C. Physical and Mental Health-Carol Purfurst. <br />The bulletin board is up and there have been several favorable comments. The <br />next focus group meeting is February 10. The group is trying for meetings once <br />a quarter and has checked April for the next one. The city gardener will attend <br />the February 10 meeting as group member Richard Cohen is interested in getting <br />a garden club started. A few people have attended the wii groups in the <br />Paramount Room on Fridays at 1 pm. (Bob Pierce noted a scheduling conflict as <br />his class on making your will is set to meet in that room on February 1 from 1-5.) <br />The Tuesday afternoon casual dancing is going well. Katie found a square <br />dance caller who agreed to call at one session, which was well attended. Katie <br />has arranged for him to teach a square dancing class this spring. Claudine <br />mentioned that on April 23, during Turn off the TV week, there will be a square <br />dancing session in place of the usual moonlight supper. <br /> <br />Unfinished Business <br /> <br />A. Installation of New Board. <br />New Board members Larry Brassem and Rosalie Lynn were welcomed to the <br />Board. Barbara Peterson was absent. <br /> <br />B. Terms <br />Larry, Rosalie and Mike will serve the three-year and Barbara the two-year term. <br /> <br />C. Election of Officers <br />Bob moved and Larry seconded that Connie continue as Chair. The motion was <br />carried. <br />Bob moved and Larry seconded that Carol continue as Vice-Chair. The motion <br />was carried. <br />Bob moved and Walt seconded that Claire and Larry be co-Secretaries. The <br />motion was carried. <br />Bob moved that Walt continue as Treasurer. Carol moved and Larry seconded <br />that Rosalie be the Treasurer. Members present voted. Majority voted that <br />Rosalie was elected to the position. <br />
