9/20/83

Page -13

Mayor Meier
Drainage Problem on South
Jefferson

Commented he assumed all councilmembers had
received a letter fom several residents on
South Jefferson regarding the drainage and
spillway - wished to know the status of this.
Administrator Wurl advised tht Director Kasch
had written a letter to Medema and the En-
gineers that we are going to have to obtain
from them what they proposed to do to correct
the problem. Staff has some ideas that they
need to discuss with them.

Councilmembers did not have a copy of the
letter, requested that they be provided this
as well as the one written by Director Kasch.

John Hinkleman Appointed
to Bike Race Committee

Mayor Meier advised that John Hinkleman has
been or will be appointed to a Board from
the County Commissioners on the Bike Race
Committee. Since he is an avid bike rider
and is familiar with the bikeways in the City,
Mayor Meier asked him to serve on this com-
mittee.

Boulder Valley Comp Plan

Mayor Meier inquired if a response had been
sent to the letter regarding the Boulder
Valley Comp Plan.
Director Rupp advised that he had been meeting
with the other City Planning Directors in
Boulder County as to the content of the letter.
Referred to a statement in the letter stating
that the Councy would like to meet with the
cities individually on the up-date of the plan.
This was discussed as a group among the other
directors that it might be beneficial since the
cities have certain common things that they
are all concerned about as cities need to
talk about without the County. The point
of this is that the cities would like to pro-
pose to the County that rather than meeting
with the cities individually that they meet
with the cities collectively, on issues that
we feel are common to all the cities and we
we feel the county should be responding to us.
Stated we support that principle amoung us
at the staff level, as well as Administrator
Wurl; also wished to discuss this with Mayor
and councilmembers if this is an acceptable
idea that we should pursue.

Mayor Meier requested that he and council-
members be provided memos presenting his
ideas.
