Was his objective to go to 24 hour
service?
Dr. Axelrod stated that he felt he supplied
better service than the proposed facility,
as he has a physician on duty from the time
it is opened until closing and during the
lunch hour. Also there are doctors nearby
with whom they can talk. Questioned if there
would be a doctor or a nurse. .at the
Community Hospital facility on Saturday,
They will have 2 beds, he has 6 beds which
gave him the capability of treating more
patients. He questioned if Community Hospital
would provide 24 hour service. They needed
to provide a need - the State denied them that.
Offered to Community to let them use his
facility after hours, if their real intent
was to provide 24 hour care. It struck him
ironic that 2 years ago when they came to
Louisville, no one thanked them for being
there for 12 hours, now people are saying
they aren't there long enough. Was willing
to do anything that he could in either con-
junction with the carmunities or with the hospi-
tals to supply the services that are needed.
He did not have plans to go to 16 hours, but
was willing to work with Community Hospital
in the numbers that they develop and'have d='Can-
munity liason.
Councilman Leary inquired if Dr. Axelrod would
be willing to discuss with Fire Dept. personnel
of both Louisville and Lafayette to work out
the differences expressed by them for ambu-
lance service, as it would be more cost effec-
tive.
