4/5/83

Page -12-

across the street, the Pow Wow on the west,
and some of the Harney property west of
Santilli's. He felt that it would be worth-
while for the City to review to stop an en-
mass de-annexation program that in his view
would result in the City of Lafayette develop-
ing South Boulder Road into whatever uses
they feel appropriate and consequently we
will end up with no open space between the
cities; and also the possibility of what-
ever uses, i.e. commercial, which would
not be in keeping with what our city had
planned. He did not make these comments
to impact the Eicher's plans as they came
into the City with a different understanding
of what was going to happen in the future
with our City extending the utilities, con-
sequently they are boxed-in as relates to
their property Administrator Wurl reiterated
that he felt Council should review the area
in terms of open space. He also felt that
we needed to take whatever steps are necessary
to perhaps reconsider serving utilities to
the area. Then work out a plan for the
people in the area that accomodates them and
the City wind up with some semblance of
open space.

Joan Eicher

Stated that their main concern was that the
Lafayette sewer line runs directly in front
of their home, and Lafayette's water line
runs through the bapkof their property.
Since they had talked with Administrator
Wurl, he indicated that the City had no inten-
tion of providing utilities to them and at this
time they have no plans for the property, con-
sequently their plans are to go back into the
county. Didn't feel they were receiving the
same services as: the other tax payers of
Louisville.

Mayor Meier contined the public hearing -
anyone in favor of Ordinance #785 - none.
Anyone against -. none. Staff comments.
Administrator Wurl inquired of Mr. & Mrs.
Eicher if action on the ordinance was delayed
2 weeks to give staff an opportunity to
develop some options for the Council to con-
sider would this delay effect them in any
way?
