Action Item: Vote to approve design of QR code & installation (moved to next meeting) <br />b. Information Item: Louisville Library public art project (Sharon): table to September meeting <br />c. Information Item: Public Art Subcommittee Update (Keely/Grace) <br />- Grace suggested hiring a jury to evaluate open call for Marshall Fire public art project (1) <br />- suggested that it be someone not from the Louisville area but around the area. <br />- Leah proposes that the sub -committee come back with a proposal <br />- Mark proposes: do we want to make a public arts project to commemorate the fires IF <br />YES then we need to figure out how that happens- aka through a sub- committee OR <br />appoint someone to go through it <br />- Leah proposes: Public Art sub -committee will come up with a Call For Artists and Jury <br />for a public art project to commemorate the fires- part of the motion: the payment of the <br />art should be made by the end of the year but not need to be installed by Jan1. Per the <br />Public Art Policy, the sub -committee's recommendation will be evaluated by the full <br />board before sending to the City Council. Seconded by Trina. All approved. <br />- a. Information Item: "Resilience" Project Update (Mark): Mark will communicate with <br />Grant artists that Call for Artists is in the works <br />Information/Discussion Item: Carolyn Fahey Project Update <br />- Leah spoke with Erica & Sharon regarding this project: The Center for the Arts is not a <br />gallery, and need to take equity of use into consideration. It is not up to LCC to allow/not <br />allow artists to use the space as a gallery for 6 weeks <br />- Proposed use of the arts space to be abbreviated to a shorter timeframe (4-5 weeks) <br />than what she requested at the Art Center- for the observance of the fire. Carolyn <br />removed the request to use the Center for the Arts for this project. Also suggested that <br />there are many artists and everyone's voice is represented. <br />XI. Arts Grants 15 min. <br />a. Information/Discussion Item: Update on 2022 Grant awards (JR) <br />- How we can improve the process: ex: someone asked for 1500 and was awarded 500. <br />They have decided to pass on the whole project. <br />- Three Days in Spain was only given the use of the space for free but not the money- this <br />was not made clear to the applicant. <br />
