Leah asks about the money that City Council was expecting as $1400 revenue
from ticket LCC event sales. Mark makes note that the city must have a line item
for this revenue.
e. Discussion Item: 2023 City Council Work Plan Recommendations
-On Sept. 20, 1 forwarded to the LCC Chair and Vice Chair the request that we
include a discussion item of 2023 City Council Work Plan Recommendations, including
attached files were sent by City Hall for boards to use as guidelines for how this has
worked in the past. City Council will begin its work plan conversation in December, and
will finalize the 2023 Work Plan in January of 2023. The LCC has been asked to please
discuss any work plan ideas, and vote on a final list of items to submit to Council. Board
recommendations must be submitted in City Council Memo format no later than
December 1.
- Per the City Clerk:
-Council may or may not take the board's advice. All suggestions will
have to be weighed against other goals that compete for the same time and
resources, so no one should be offended if the items don't make the final list.
-The final work plan needs to be limited to a very small number of items
that can reasonably get done in addition to all of staff's regular work, so Council
will be very limited in what they put on the final plan.
-Any items that require additional staff or funding are unlikely to make the
final list.
-Recommendations should be as specific if possible. If the goal is too big
and amorphous it is hard to track and complete.
-All goals should align with the City's Strategic Plan. (Strategic Planning
Framework for 2021-2022 is available on the City website. The Strategic Plan is
an internal, guiding document that outlines the operating guidelines for the
organization as a whole, and helps align our organizational culture with the work
that we do.)
-If LCC does not have any goals to submit that is fine too, just the Cultural
Council / Erica know that was the decision.
- Leah notes that Lisa had some ideas about this and Erica should connect with her. It
was possibly about ticket sales. Mark notes that what we are working for is staff's time - Erica
notes not. Mark says that we can't submit money for big events that require more City Council
staff time and are not likely to get approved. Leah says that she delegates to Lisa to follow up
with Erica on this.
f. Action Item: Arts Center reservations for 2023
-Theater groups, including Coal Creek Theater, grabbed about 300 dates out of
the year. Erica asks if we have any proposed dates of events for next year to let her
know so that she can block that off. Leah asks for someone to look for week nights and
weekend nights similar to last year to send to Erica to make requests off. She suggested
that we do two dates a month. Beth asks if we need to have our dates confirmed with our
