Discussion Item: Programming Overview
i. Marketing- Leah says that this is getting overtalked in terms of a meeting topic.
Erica says that all marketing for print material is always ahead of schedule. JR says that
a 6 month lead time for marketing is a very tough timeline. Beth says that maybe we
should have a separate publication for arts completely. Mark notes that you can
subscribe to newsletters as a citizen. Leah notes that people at the silent film said that
they all found out through the artist personally or the Arts and Events newsletter. Leah
mentions that it might be worth it to solidify how information on events gets notified to the
public- for at least next year. Erica says that Cultural Services is doing some combined
newsletters that might be rolled out in January or February. This would be for people that
are not part of the library newsletter alread.
ii. General goals for 2023 programming
a. Cultural Caravan collaboration proposal (JR). Josh (missing last name)
has a proposal for the LCC. Included in the packet is the sample budget, included
in it is the number that Josh proposed as far as the project. JR had a call with him
about the "Welcome Home" event, it was very successful. Josh proposed a
partnership through the LCC that if we could put 4k in the budget for the Cultural
Caravan. That would be one of the concerts in the park and a pop up show as
well as something similar to the fire station event we hosted this year. So 3
events total world be hosted by Cultural Caravan. JR likes working with them
since they have all their own sound and crew. JR thinks that they are a very good
bargain for three events. Sarah asks what medium they group is. Beth notes that
it is cello and collaborated with other instrumental groups. The Caravan brings
together a bunch of collaborations with different ethnic musicians. Leah asks to
make this item to vote on to approve this partnership. Mark asks if we will be
approving what events will be happening as well. Leah marks that it would be the
three listed above. Leah wants to clarify that Josh can provide the clarity of sound
for the summer concert?
b. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)
i. City EDI (Erica)
1. Staffing: EDI Manager position- Last year the City
worked with a consultant to get recommendations. They
recommended that the city get an EDI manager. Erica thinks that
this manager will want to connect with the LCC eventually. Mark
notes that Grace spoke at the City Council meeting and she asked
for a read out of the work items for the EDI task force as well for
next year.
