Minutes - page 2
August 10, 1976

RTD CONT'D

Mr. Wurl stated that he could not see how
RTD could run a system if they have several
people who want to go to different cities and
come back at different times with only one
bus.
Mr. Adams stated that the present plans in-
cluded two van type buses and if the need
be, they would continue to supply the vehicles
to meet the demands of the area.
Mr. Adams stated that RTD determines the
bus service by the density of the city.
Councilman McDonald stated that the City will
be contributing about $22,800 for 1976 and
she stated that she felt if the City did not
receive service we should request a refund.
Mr. Adams stated that RTD has a bus
running through the City. He felt that
the service as it is now is worth the tax
money going into it.
Councilman DiLorenzo asked about the evening
hours.
Mr. Adams stated that he did not bring
up evening hours, but dealt directly with
peak hours. He stated that if the demand
is there, the service would be supplied.
Mr. Wurl stated that some cities stated
that they had a surplus of buses in the
communities.
Mr. Adams stated that Longmont has about
2 persons per mile riding which is a good
percentage.
Mr. Steve Anderson asked if the system
would have discount fares for senior
citizens as in other areas.
Mr. Adams stated that it is probable that
the same type of fare would be used. He
also stated that RTD does set the fares.
Councilman McDonald stated that she would
like some facts and figures as to why the
bus which is already going down the turn-
pike could not come into the City.
Mr. Adams stated that those buses are
fairly full and it would probably need the
use of another bus.
Mr. Hershey asked about the possibility of
a park and ride at the Superior overpass.
Councilman DiCarlo asked if a private
operator took over the paratransit system,
who would provide service if he should
be sick.

2.
