DRCOG CONT'D Mr. Farley stated that he thought RTD had looked into something similar to that along with other alternatives. He stated that one problem would be the mixing of that system with the other means of transportation. The DRCOG planner stated the dif~ ficulties with the interurban concept. In the metro area, they had been pro- posing an upgraded trolley from Denver to Northglenn, this was turned down by the Federal government. He stated that the other means would have been by bus in the area outside the proposed trolley. Mr. Wurl asked Mr. Farley to outline the present status of Boulder County and Broomfields request for DRCOG to inter- vene in the Mizel Annexation. Mr. Farley stated that under state law local governments are entitled to re- quest of COG comments of local plans and projects. DRCOG sumbitted a lengthy analysis which was discussed earlier today between DRCOG representatives and the City Staff. The issue is a policy issue for DRCOG, was raised about one year ago when a COG member made a motion that DRCOG go on record opposing the Mizel devel- opment. The motion was tabled and never removed from the table. No further com- ments have been made. COG did note that Mizel development con- tradicted a couple policies. One had to do with unique communities particularly identified two or three Boulder County and also dealt with locations of industrial developments. It was discussed at some length with the City staff and to COG's understanding, the legal hurdles have been cleared and the fact that the development is around the corner. He commented that the City of Louisville amendments to the regional land use plan are probably important in respects to the placement of that development. Obviously the required land use plan in its entirety will be taken up and re- worked. Mr. Wurl asked Mr. Farley if he meant that the request of Boulder Councty and Broomfiled has been tabled until they chose to bring it up again. 2.
