PARKS & REC cont'd
APPOINTMENTS

PARK PROPERTY IN SOUTH LOUISVILLE

SWIM TEAM COACH

COUNCIL COMMENTS & COMMITTEE
REPORTS
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - LONG
RANGE PLANNING COMMISSION

Mr. Helart stated that the Parks and Recreation
Board had three vacancies. Two present members
would like to serve another two year term, and
Mr. Ken Ferrera wrote a letter requesting con-
sideration to serve on the Board in place of
Mr. Jerry King. A question was brought up in
regards to Mrs. Purcell serving on the Board
and also heading a program for Parks. Mr.
Helart stated that Parks had check with the
attorney several years back and he felt that
there was no major conflict of interest. The
reason Mrs. Purcell is heading a program is
because the day camp through YMCA was so ex-
pensive, Mrs. Purcell offered to head the pro-
gram if it would not jeopardize her position
on the Board. Mr. Helart stated that Mrs.
Purcells daughter is running most of the pro-
gram with Mrs. Purcell as overseer. After
remarks Councilman Berry moved that JoAnne
Purcell and Larry Springer be reappointed
for a two year term, and Kenneth Ferrera be
appointed to fill the vacancy of Jerry King
for a two year term effective July 1, 1975.
Seconded by Councilman Domenico. Motion carried.

Mr. Helart stated that they have check on
property in south Louisville for the purpose
of a park. Parks contacted Johnsons in
regards to their property, however, they are
dealing in another matter on the property.
Mr. Wurl asked Mr. Helart to speak with him
before any action is taken on acquiring pro-
perty in that area.

Councilman DiCarlo asked if the swim team
coach was getting paid. Mr. Helart stated
that Mr. Snyder is a life guard and is on
the parks payroll for that but not as a swim
coach.

Mayor Waschak asked Council if they had any
recommendations for the City representative
on the Long Range Planning Commission to re-
place Mr. Jack Lang. Councilman DelPizzo stated
that at one time Mrs. Mary DiLorenzo stated
her interest in serving on the Board. Mr.
Wurl stated that if Council wishes to recommend
Mrs. DiLorenzo to the Commissioners she should
direct a letter to the Commissioners showing
her interest. Mr. Wurl was instructed to
inform Mrs. DiLorenzo to write to the Commissioners.
Mayor Waschak stated that the appointment will
be acted upon at the July 15, 1975, meeting.

-3-
