410 110 3/2/82 Page -4- JESSICA HALE Jessica Hale, President of the Student Council made the presentation which stated "In honor of the services the senior citizens have done for this community, the Louisville Student Council proudly gives this furni- ture to the Louisville Senior Citizens Center." She then presented the plaque to Mrs. Cathy Bittler, who accepted it on behalf of the , senior citizens. Many of whom were present. MAYOR MEIER Thanked Mr. Room* and the students for their efforts, generosity, and spirit on behalf of the community and senior citizens. He expressed his appreciation and admlxation on behalf of himself and council for a a Sob well done. HOMART/KAHAN FUNDS Kirk Badger, President of the Louisville CONSIDERATION OF REQUESTS Development Corporation had presented council- Kirk Badger members with material regarding the LDC re- LDC quest for the funds. He stated the goal of the LDC was to compliment the shopping center not attempt to compete with it. Mr. Badger referred to the 4 point program stated in the material which were: 1. 0ierall plan for public improvements 2. Design standards 3. Financing assistance 4. Management of the downtown district to include promotion, community re- lations, administration and business development. The purpose of downtown revitalization is enconomic and physical. Obviously this must be a joint effort between the City and some business group, which is the LDC. Their group was requesting $25,000 of the Homart/Kahan funds, and the LDC was propos- ing Cu raise another $25,000 from a special event scheduled for July, 1982. They were also requesting the two matching fund payments of $25,000 each as outlined in the Interchange Agreement. Their organization plans to provide the matching funds to meet the requirement.
