--, .
When you are widening it out and add the
service roads it is going to be a pretty wide
road. It will take the big trees in my yard
and the house that was built. Most of the
houses that were built there, were built when
the road was a gravel road. If the highway
department has to buy all of these homes or
move all of these homes, I would suggest that
there must be some cheaper land some place
that you could get cheaper. They also have
talked about landscaping the new highway, it
seems silly to cut all the trees down along
Dillon Road and then relandscape it when they
move all the houses back. I wish you could
consider a different route rather than Dillon
Road. I do not think it is the cheapest way
to go. I think a better road would be on
Empire Road. I'm sure there must be a
better route.
Jim Schreiter, Rt 2 Box 645, Broomfield, Colorado
Schreiter: I have been to several meetings concerning
this matter and we first got involved when
they tried to tell us they were going to put
W-470 through. Whatever they do W-470 was
going right down the middle of my farm. I
was very concerned about that at the time.
But the citizens of this community voted it
down. What we have is very similar to W-470.
They have been trying to tell me that this is
a fast route to the airport, when in fact it
will only save 5 minutes at the most. This
is still a developers' dream. The reason we
now have this beltway is because Interlocken
wants to run this road through their develop-
ment but they don't want to pay for it. I'm
not interested in paying for an interchange.
This road comes down 96th and makes a big
sweep through my farm and is going to wipe
out 10 homes. This is not a big deal in the
eyes of people that talk about progress, but
it is to me. These 10 people that live out
there would like to be left alone, the same
as I would. Open space is a concern of other
people and by living where I do I contribute
to open space. The most feasible place for
this road is to come across 96th, come down
toward Rock Creek in a straight line over
pass 287 and get on down the road. There are
other ways to build this road. If they put a
road across me, I'm going to fight you
through the courts. If I lose I'm going to
get all the dollars out of that land that I
can.
5
