...;,
be of similar line. The landscape scheme are
similar to the Blue Parrot.
Sackett: Are they expanding to the south or east?
Franklin: To the south, if you remember the old VFW
building, it will be where the dirt is now.
It will have a uniform facade; entry way; and
canopy so it will be a structural component
or addition to the facility.
Sackett: No trees, just a flat building there and on
the first floor there will be no windows
there?
Franklin: It will have a store front facade. That may
not be clear in the Final Development Plan.
Fauson: To clarify that, I believe years ago the
adopted zoning in the old downtown was al-
lowed to build up to a lot line.
Franklin: The requirements for commercial buildings are
minimum. There are no set backs for the
front. One of the rationale for recommending
approval of that plan by Planning Commission
is that it is a planned variance where the
facade is taken to the lot which is basically
to the property line.
Davidson: If you look at what the applicant proposes
compared to what was there it is a great
enhancement to the aesthetic value of down-
town. Trees would be nice, but since part of
that corner is already developed I don't see
how that is practical. I think it would be a
big enhancement to downtown and the entire
area.
Howard: According to the Planning Commission this
follows the same architectural lines as
currently exists, is that true?
Franklin: It is not identical but is along similar
architectural lines. It will be a unique
building but fits the architecture of the
existing restaurant.
Howard: So this fits in about half of the block with
the same architectural style? So that is
basically the key thing in line with what is
already there?
Franklin: Yes.
7
