area." We are saying ok, if you do go beyond
that area we do not want you to be involved in
the 502 exclusion agreement.
Fauson: I have to agree with Kevin, that I don't think
the City should have ever been involved. It
should have been the two fire protection
districts' agenda. They should have resolved
this some time ago. The City became involved
in this because of a commitment to Lincor that
they would be included into the Louisville
Fire Protection District. I think that was a
misunderstanding on some of the people's part
in the City. That was one reason we had to
take this over because a commitment was made
by the City. I don't think the City should be
invol ved in the Louisville Fire Protection
District's business or the Cherryvale's Fire
Protection District business. It should
always be that cooperation and that
understanding that we live together. I don't
think we should be involved in their business
at all.
Sackett: What happens if you end up with a property
owner who would develop a piece of land where
half the building is in Cherryvale and half
the building is in Louisville's Fire
Protection District?
Klein: That has happened to some extent. The assessor
tries to make his best guess on that. Fire
Protection District boundaries have not been
drawn logically, they have been drawn on what
was easier where there were lines on the map
to follow. That is how some of these things
have ended up. What we are trying to do is
bring that into a logical service area. What
can we serve and what can they serve? We are
saying we will give up these other areas but
we would like to keep these areas. We've come
to an agreement with the fire departments by
saying this is ridiculous if it starts in the
bathroom it's yours and if it goes in the
kitchen it's ours, so we have come up with an
agreement with the individual fire districts.
We are currently cleaning that up with the
exclusion and inclusion process with some
other districts. With this particular
exclusion I do not see that happening. These
current boundaries follow lot lines, which
coincides with some section lines and quarter
10
