of 36th, are those City owned properties at
the present time?
Brand: Those are annexed into the City; one is the
location of the water treatment plant; and the
other is Biella/Menkick property. Cherryvale
has a station and equipment in Superior that
is a lot closer to these properties than
Louisville is at this time. That was your
reasoning for excluding these at this time?
Klein: We are trying to recognize certain natural man
made boundaries to come up with logical
response areas. Just as it doesn't make any
sense for Cherryvale to drive by Louisville's
Fire District Station No. 2 to get to Ohmeda,
it doesn't make any sense for Louisville to
drive by our Station No. 3 to get to
Biella/Menkick or the Howard Berry Water
Treatment Plant. Since the Howard Berry Water
Treatment Plant is annexed into the City it
gives you contiguity for future access into
the south.
Carnival: It is interesting that you make those
comments, Kevin, because you were not making
those same comments when you were supporting
the fact that you could service the Ohmeda
property as well as the Louisville Fire
Protection District.
Klein: I am maintaining that we can still do that.
Wha t we are talking about is coming up with
logical response boundaries as part of the
agreement. What we are trying to do is come
up with an agreement and come up with some
compromises here. I will maintain that if A-1
Ambulance begins to service the Louisville
Fire Protection District, ambulance service
will come from the same spot whether it comes
from Cherryvale or Louisville Fire Protection
District. It will be the same ambulance
responding there. These things will still
remain the same, but in an effort to come up
with a long term agreement I am suggesting
that we go with this where we won't run into
this problem in the future.
Carnival: I don't have any problem saying encourage, but
when you go so far as saying not support the
502 process I think that you are eliminating a
process that by right property owners should
17
