The Farm is valued as a wetland habitat, a corridor
for Coal Creek, a corridor for wildlife, its potential for trail connections, its views, and as a buffer
to the south between Lafayette and Louisville.
Status: The County purchased the 154 -acre Mayhoffer property located in Section 15
south of Highway 42 in 2001. Louisville.purchased aone- quarter interest in this
property in 2003, and Lafayette will purchase a one- quarter interest when they receive
their NW Pkwy IGA payments in 2008. Warembourg Property: 117 acres east of SH 287 and south of the Robin Hood subdivision.
Coal Creek divides the property. This property is valued as a wildlife corridor and habitat,
and as a corridor for Coal Creek.
Status: Lafayette and the County jointly purchased the Warembourg property in 2003.
Various properties along Coal Creek and Rock Creek located east of Burlington Northern
line, south of Baseline Road, and north. of Denier Road. Protection of the creek corridors is
considered critical to maintaining habitat and passage for wildlife and providing continuous
trail connections for the Coal Creek/Rock Creek Trail system. A reclamation/clean -up effort
is also recommended along Rock Creek.
Status: West of SH 287 along Coal Creek, - County jointly purchased the Adler/Fingru
property with Lafayette and Louisville. Boulder County and Lafayette partnered to
complete a trail through the property along a drainage way to link the Coal Creek Trail
to Centaurus High School. In addition, improvements were made linking the trail to the
surrounding neighborhood and cutting off illegal motorized vehicles to the trail. County
will continue to pursue opportunities as they become available.
B. Trail Requests: No trail requests were submitted in 2001, however the county and Lafayette have
been working on the following joint project:
1. City of Lafayette and County will begin joint project in spring 2002 to construct a trailhead
along Coal Creek Trail at Public Road.
Status: A trailhead with ten paved parking spaces was completed in summer 2003 along
with an interpretive information kiosk and two picnic tables.
2. Baseline Road, south to Dillon Road, along Coal Creek and Rock Creek. This area has the
potential to tie into the larger Coal Creek/Rock Creek trail system.
Status: The Boulder County Regional Trails Committee approved the inclusion of a trail
link in this area on the Regional Trails - Priority List. That trail, located on the Callahan
property in Louisville, would link Baseline Road to the Louisville trail system and larger
Coal Creek Trail system. Construction may occur as early as 2005.
LONGMONT (2001)
1. St. Vrain Greenway.
