B. Trail Requests: <br />1. Trail access from the west to Hecla Lake -north of South Boulder Road and west of Hichwav <br />42. Trail would be less than a '/ mile connecting back to Highway 42 to the west and <br />approximately a' /2 mile further to the east connecting to a proposed.trail from Hecla Lake to <br />Waneka Reservoir in Lafayette. The City would be willing to share in the cost with the <br />County. This trail would provide and excellent opportunity for scenic viewing and possible <br />active /passive recreational opportunities, as well as a community connection with Lafayette. <br />Status: The County has no plans in this area. <br />2. Trail system connection to Waneka Reservoir. Approximately a 1/2 mile northeast of Hecla <br />Lake and /or 1/4 mile south of Greenlee Reservoir in Lafayette. Trail would possibly be 1/2 mile <br />connection from Waneka Lake. The City would be willing to share in the cost. The reservoir <br />offers scenic views and opportunities for passive /active recreation opportunities and provides <br />a connection with the neighboring community of Lafayette. <br />Status: The County has no plans in this area. <br />3. Coal Creek Trail near US 36, trail /underpass: complete connection as outlined by the City of <br />Louisville's Parks and Open Space Master Plan. Expand the US36 /Coal Creek Bridge to a <br />full- functioning Underpass to connect to the Coal Creek system in both Louisville and <br />Superior (proposed connections in current County Trail requests). A cost of approximately <br />5300,000- $500,000. The City would be willing to discuss sharing the cost of such a project. <br />Would further facilitate use of the Coal Creek Trail as well as enhance the wildlife corridor I <br />Boulder County along Coal Creek. <br />Status: Project completed in 2003 providing link between Dillon Road and McCaslin <br />Blvd. in Superior. Total cost to Louisville was approximately $25,000. <br />4. Callahan property: proposed 2,000 foot long trail to provide important connection in the City. <br />of Louisville's trail network. <br />Status: City of Louisville is taking the lead on this trail. New Louisville open space <br />board is conducting inventories of all open space properties before any new development <br />will take place. Trail included on Boulder County Regional Trails List. <br />5. Coal Creek Trail at State Highway 42: rehabilitate the Coal Creek Trail underpass at HWY 42 <br />to address safety and maintenance concerns. <br />Status: City is keeping drain cleaned out. No current plans for improvements by <br />Boulder County. <br />6. Davidson Mesa Trail: connect Louisville with the City of Boulder in fulfillment of <br />Louisville's Parks and Open Space Master Plan. <br />Status: The County has no plans in this area. <br />LYONS (2002) <br />A. Open Space Requests: <br />1. Olson property located south of the Lyons boundary and west of the Lyons M/S High: 99.5 <br />acres of and to be used for a trail head and a trail connection to the Lyons Trail, St. Vrain <br />Gateway and Foothills Corridor. <br />Status: property is currently listed and under option by a private party. <br />2. Steamboat Mountain. Important for scenic values. <br />Status: The County purchased the Steamboat Mountain property (281 acres) in 2003. <br />Page , 6 <br />
