SIMMONS <br />CITY MANAGER <br />DATE: September 13, 2004 <br />SUBJECT: Budget Study Session - Capital Projects Update <br />ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: Finance <br />SUMMARY: <br />Based on the August 24, 2004 budget study session with City Council direction, staff has made the <br />following changes and is providing new information regarding projects in the Capital Projects Fund, <br />Conservation Trust — Lottery Fund and the Conservation Trust — Land Acquisition Fund. <br />Documents included with this communication are: <br />1. Revised Five -Year Plan on Capital Projects Fund. <br />2. Revised Five -Year Plan on Land Acquisition Fund. <br />3. Revised Five -Year Plan on Lottery Fund. <br />Additional information is also included: <br />1. 2005 Street Resurfacing list of Street Candidates provided by Public Works. <br />2. Information on the Gateway Signs budget provided by Land Management. <br />3. Information on Senior /Recreation Center Equipment Replacement Program. <br />4. Information on the Playground Equipment Repair & Replacement will be provided by <br />Land Management on Monday. <br />5. Maps to support the New Trail Program <br />A summary of changes made to the following three funds since the last budget session on August 24, <br />2004 is listed below: <br />Capital Projects Fund: <br />• Recreation / Senior Center Equipment Replacement fund of $75,000 per year is being evaluated <br />by Staff to determine in more detail what these funds will be used for. <br />• The Land Management project for the new tennis courts at Via Appia and McCaslin will be <br />discussed for alternative options. The amount has been reduced from $375,000 to $110,000 <br />pending the results of on -going research. <br />• In addition to the existing Bella Vista/County project of $472,500 another $200,000 was added <br />for construction of a pedestrian underpass for a total project cost of $672,500 <br />• Senior /Recreation Center equipment replacement was reduced from $75,000 to $50,000 for the <br />years 2007 -2009. <br />SUBJECT <br />Budget Study Session - Capital Projects Update <br />DI <br />
