'pharmacy' in very small text and on the back panel there was also some very small text
about pharmacy. He questioned why the word 'pharmacy' was not bold and prominent in
the advertising if that is where seventy percent of Rite Aid's sales occur. He asked why
Council should approve more signage when Rite Aid is not willing to promote itself in its
own advertising.

Coleman replied that he is not in marketing, however, he would try and explain the
reasons behind that. He stated that most of today's prescriptions are third-party
prescriptions. The pharmacy advertising is behind-the-scene advertising directed to
physicians and the convenience items are hilighted in the traditional newspaper
advertisements.

Keany asked Coleman how many Rite Aid stores are in Colorado.

Coleman replied approximately 30-35 stores.

Keany asked Coleman how many of those stores have a sign on them with the word
'pharmacy.'

Coleman replied that all the stores do.

Keany asked if the Louisville store was the only store without the word 'pharmacy' on its
sign and, if so, why.

Coleman replied that it was simply an oversight.

Keany replied that he would take that into consideration when making a decision on this
request.

Levihn stated that he is typically opposed to signs, however, he does believe this was an
oversight. He stated that Rite Aid's current signage is difficult to see at night. He felt that
improved signage would be a benefit to the business and to the community. He asked
Coleman if the drive-through pharmacy canopy lights could be shielded, as requested.

Coleman replied, yes. They are willing to switch to a recessed light, similar to the ones
used by the neighboring Bank of Boulder building.

Levihn stated he did not object to the additional directional sign for the drive-through
pharmacy.

Mayer agreed with Howard that the Rite Aid sign has been in need of repair for a
substantial amount of time. He expressed concern that this seems to reflect some
indifference. He asked Coleman when the Rite Aid store opened.

Coleman replied the store opened approximately three months ago.
